The Muikkumaja Cottage*+

The guests of the Puula Canoeing Centre will have at their disposal one island base in the most beautiful archipelago of the lake. Cottages are a pleasant alternative to the camping grounds situated adjacent to going-ashore places: if it rains, it doesn't matter, and the sauna, too, is just the thing to top off a day's paddling.

Cottage hire is on a self-service principle, meaning that the people involved will get themselves to the Cottage on their own, bringing all the provisions and equipment they need with them. It is important that the Cottages are kept clean and otherwise in good condition, so that the people following will enjoy themselves there.
The maximum period for renting the Cottages is 4 days for the simple reason that as many people as possible can get to enjoy them. Off-season, one can stay in the Cottages for as long as one pleases.

Location: On the island of Soisalo on side of the open stretch of water called Soisalonselkä in Katosniemi. Some 4 kms from Tähtiniemi.
Landscape: The most famous raukki rock formations within binocular range. The whole tip of the cape at your disposal. Shoreline consisting of exposed bedrock and sandy beach. Magnificent setting for sunset campfires.
Cottage: Very modest fisherman's lodge, with beds for three and a wood-fire stove. Basic crockery for four.
Sauna: The best smoke sauna on Lake Puulavesi. Heating-up time some. 2,5 hours, sufficient heat for some 2 hours of sauna. Bunk for one person in the sauna dressing room.
Neighbours: may be keeping an eye out for your doings far away, across the lake
Whitefish (Muikku): Fishing grounds just before you on the jetty, but you can also buy them from the fishermen at the Lutakko harbour close by.
